User Review of Greenway EMR Cont.

Sunday, March 28th, 2010
This a review from the Greenway EMR Review (Read Here) that I felt was worth sharing as a warning when dealing with majority of the EMR/EHR vendors.  You could really insert any EMR vendor in the place of Greenway as they are all capable of these things.  If you have an experience that differs from Sallie’s, please don’t hesitate to comment below.

From: Sallie
Practice Manager for Gastroenterology Practice

“I will let you know that Greenway has been an huge and costly disappointment. We purchased the EMR for our office and ASC Endoscopy Center. The sales person made several promises and assured us that the product would work like our current one and that we would be able to continue taking pictures during our procedures. He also assured us that we could go completely paperless along with several other promises.

New Free Web Based EMR

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

Free Web Based EMR (electronic medical record) Solution from Mitochon Systems Features:

  • Enhanced Scheduling Module allows easy assimilation in small or large practice
  • Intuitive program that does not disrupt your workflow or productivity
  • Export charge report from EMR into most major billing systems using one of the popular export formats

With the stimulus money on the table and the Stark provision allowing hospitals/labs to cover most the expense associated with purchasing and implementing an EHR solution, there are many physicians who are being pushed into programs that may or may not work best for their practice.

Free EMR Concerns

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Below is an excerpt from EMRandHipaa.com where John expresses concern over the HITECH act and its impact on the open source EMR movement.  There will be a certification requirement and more and more and it looks as thought that will be the CCHIT certification.  Some states have already independtly adopted CCHIT for their state healthcare facilities and it is just a matter of time before the government moves forward with this standardization.

ATLANTA – R. Andrew Eckert, who as CEO of the Eclipsys Corp. saw the company through a restructuring in 2006 and back to prosperity, is stepping down from the helm of the Atlanta-based company and will be replaced by a well-known industry insider.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on Dec. 30 posted a proposed–and long awaited–rule defining the “meaningful use” of electronic health records which is how physicians will qualify for the stimulus money that is part of the ARRA HITECH program.  There are a lot of details in this bill and a lot still to be determined.  I have identified some of the many key points found in this rule.  It is a rule worth reading for those with the time and attention span.  Final rule is not expected before March 2010 which means there are probably going to be many more changes before this is implemented.
